Push Notifications

Push Notifications are a powerful way to connect with your users. Once your app is installed on a user's device, you have the opportunity to PUSH messages directly to their notification screen, even if your app is closed (installed, but not currently running on their device).

Notifications

You'll have experienced Push Notifications on your own devices when apps such as FaceBook or YouTube pop up with new content, such as someones birthday, even if you're doing something else. You have the same opportunity with your own app.

To use Push Notifications, you need to:

  1. Ensure you have Push Notifications enabled in your subscription.
  2. Create at least one topic.
  3. Send or Schedule your first notification.

1. Ensure you have Push Notifications enabled in your subscription.

  1. If you use a Basic or similar plan, you may need to add the 'Engage Bundle', or Push Notification Feature to your plan (this may effect the amount you are billed each month).
  2. Go to your Account Menu, and select Subscriptions
  3. Look for the Push Notification feature. If its not a currently active feature, look for Engage Bundle or Push Notifications in Available Services.
  4. Click Add on the Available Service to add it to your account.
TIP: If you're unsure about how your plan works, send us an email at customerservice@ezystream.com

2. Create one or more topics for your notifications:

  1. Go to your Manage Menu, and select Notifications.
  2. Select Notification Topics.
  3. Select Add Notification Topic.
  4. Type the name of the topic you'd like to make.
  5. Idea: Your topics maybe things like 'Event Updates', 'Conference', or 'Kids Club'.

Notification Topics

Users are able to select/de-select which topics they would like to receive notifications on. By default, they will receive all topics, and they can customise this in the Settings Menu item in your app.

3. Send your First Push Notification:

  1. Click (plus) Notification.
  2. Select the Topic you'd like to send your notification under.
  3. Type the Title and Message of your notification.
Idea: For a first test message, you could send a 'Welcome to our app' type message. This will show in Notification History for 7 days.

Decide whether you'd like to Send Now, or schedule your Push Notification.

Understanding Statistics

You can see how many devices received a notification by going to Manage and finding Notifications. When you click a Notification, you can see its statistics.

Editing Scheduled Notifications

You can change a scheduled notification by going to Manage and finding Notifications. When you click a Notification, you'll get the option to edit its schedule if it hasn't already been sent.
